Whether Donald Trump accepts it or not, on January 20th Joe Biden will become the 46th president of the United States. Biden made history by appointing Sen. Kamala Harris as his vice-president, the first woman and person of color in that position. But he shouldn’t stop there. It’s time America has its first mostly-female cabinet.

Imagine a Biden administration powered by, among others, Susan Rice as Secretary of State, Michele Flournoy as Defense Secretary, Sally Yates as Attorney General, Lael Brainard as Treasury Secretary, Julie Su as Secretary of Labor, Lily Eskelsen Garcia as Education Secretary, Mellody Hobson as Commerce Secretary and, yes, Hillary Clinton as UN Ambassador. Federal Reserve’s Board of Governors United States Under Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs and as Counselor to the Secretary of the Treasury from 2009 to 2013

These women are all uber-qualified. Rice served as national security adviser and Ambassador to the United Nations under Barack Obama. Flournoy was a senior defense adviser in the Bill Clinton and Obama administrations. Yates was deputy AG under Obama and acting AG under Trump. Brainard is a Federal Reserve Governor and former Obama Under Secretary of the Treasury.

Su serves as Secretary of the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency and was former California Labor commissioner. Garcia is an elementary school teacher and former president of the National Education Association. Hobson is co-CEO of Ariel Investments and former Chairwoman of Dreamworks Animation. And Clinton, well, she just might be the most qualified politician and diplomat in history.

By appointing Harris as his vp Biden helped shatter the proverbial glass ceiling. By filling his cabinet with mostly women he could blow it to smithereens and set America on a new, historic course in leadership.

Just imagine…
