Why Democrats Will Keep the House and Senate

Conventional wisdom suggests President Joe Biden and Democrats will lose control of at least one chamber of Congress in this week’s midterm elections. But everything politically these past seven years has utterly defied conventional wisdom.

In 2020 Biden received 7-million more votes than Donald Trump. His victory was bolstered by an incalculable degree of moderate Republican and independent support. These Never Trumpers and swing voters also helped deliver Democrats the House and Senate while flipping Georgia and Arizona blue.

The reason? They were exhausted by the non-stop chaos of Trump and his cabal of sycophants. Fed up with the pathological lying, incivility, toxicity, cruelty, divisiveness, inhumanity and danger of the most unqualified, incompetent, corrupt, treasonous president and the congressional cultists who defended, protected and empowered him.

This stunning coalition included suburban women, men, blacks, Hispanics, Asians, white college-educated, white non-college, middle/working class, young folks and seniors. The disdain for Trump was universal. They summarily rejected him and refused to give control of Congress to the party that so grossly abdicated its oversight responsibility in shamelessly dropping its drawers for a dangerous, democracy-raping, dictator-wannabe sociopath.
