Will Trump Ever Be Prosecuted?

Every day I tell myself, of course Donald Trump will be held accountable for his myriad crimes and misdemeanors. How can he not be, right?

I remind myself that in the grand battle of good vs evil, Democrats won the presidency, House and Senate and managed to flip Georgia and Arizona despite the shamelessly corrupt, treasonous attempt by Trump, his leeching spawn and his ruthless cabal of sycophantic aides and media whores to steal the 2020 election.

Yet I watch the work of the January 6th Committee being performed to varying degrees of praise, condemnation and disappointment.

I wonder like everyone else whether Attorney General Merrick Garland is kicking back playing Wordle Archive all day or actually gathering evidence and preparing a criminal case against the former Sociopath-in-Chief.

And that’s the problem. We shouldn’t have to wonder.

For years Trump has brazenly committed his crimes without fear of consequence. He wears his criminality like a badge of honor. He prides himself on the fact that for decades he’s gotten away with sexual assault; business, banking, insurance, non-profit fraud; tax evasion; and as president, every ethical, moral and legal transgression imaginable.

Yet…he…remains…free.

And so do his ass-kissing, democracy-raping minions.

So is this how’s it’s ultimately going to go down? Is he going to get away with it all yet again?

Back in the 80’s former Mafia Godfather John Gotti was referred to as “The Teflon Don” because he deftly avoided prosecution for so many years. But the real Teflon Don is Don Trump, whose criminal behavior is so massive and unrelenting and perpetrated out in the open that our collective heads have literally been spinning off our necks.

In the wake of the January 6th insurrection and the ‘rigged election’ Big Lie that still has upwards of half the country convinced Joe Biden is not the legitimate president, it’s crucial to accept how close we came to the precipice of autocracy. How America’s 246-year experiment almost came to a failed end if it weren’t for a few ethical, courageous Republicans and a shit ton of luck.

Because if Trump and his thugs are not investigated, indicted, prosecuted and imprisoned, we won’t be so lucky next time…
